Whether you see the Passat as understated or elegant, it is a car that looks comfortable at swanky office complexes and luxury hotel porches. It’s tastefully done on the inside as well and everything you touch feels rich. All-round comfort is excellent and the rear-seat experience is particularly relaxing. Volkswagen has also packed in a lot of equipment.<br/>The Passat’s 2.0-litre diesel engine offers a strong performance though the unit does get audible at times. And while the auto gearbox offers seamless shifts for the most part, it does trip when you floor the throttle. The Passat drives like the big German car it is and offers driver and passengers a great sense of confidence. Unfortunately, sharp edges catch the Euro-spec suspension out and there’s also a bit of suspension noise that creeps into the cabin.
